giveaway: vintage post-card

So the weather people on TV are saying  that its going to be rainy here in New York all week (noooooo!).  I mean, I can get down with a good thunderstorm, but preferably at night when I'm cozied up watching a movie. The forecast has been wrong before so I hope they're just messing with us or something. Ohhhh, you guuuuys, you got us again!

Yesterday was filled with all kinds of things! Early afternoon I went to Lips for Broadway Brunch with my cousin, Brianne.
I read a review that said this place looked like "Ken and Barbie's dream house on acid."
Pretty much, yeah.

She was a lovely performer, and just a doll!

Since we were in the area we stopped by Dylan's candy bar. Oh, the temptation...! However, after almost losing it when I saw peanut-butter popcorn, I held my composure and searched for Red Vines to buy my friend Allison for her birthday dinner that night. Seriously though, how magical does this place look!

I found the Red Vines! Kimberly did a great job wrapping it so pretty.

I had some time in between so I walked around the East Village and came upon this thrift store! I highly recommend going if you're in the area. They were having a 50% off deal on clothing that day, so everything was super cheap. Plus, the music they play is awesome. I heard everything from The Shins, to Joan Jett, to 40's swing music, to the Dark Wing Duck theme song... I could've stayed there forever! I also found out that a lot of the benefits go to the Diabetes Research Institute. Hmmm, even more reason to shop... If you aren't in New York, they have an online store that you can checkout here, and a Tumblr to keep tabs on all the latest new (old) items!

Wait, is that me? That can't be right...
Ah, that's more like it.
I picked up a couple articles of clothing. Only cost me $5!
I also got a vintage post-card...(that can be yours! Scroll to bottom for details)
... And a few old photographs of people and their babies. Maybe it's kind of weird to have old photos of people, but I feel like you never see photos like this anymore. I think I'm going to collect old pictures and put them in a book for people to look through one day.
The day ended with meeting my friend Allison and her boyfriend Kyle at Quintessence for her birthday/reunion dinner (we hadn't seen each other in 3 years!) But luckily she is moving here to attend NYU for film school in the fall! Yipeeee! I should have taken pictures of all the food, but we just got so caught up in conversation and, well, eating the food. I can tell you it consisted of Vegan ravioli, vegan pizza, vegan hamburgers, butternut squash soup with squash coconut-bread, vegan tiramisu, and vegan vanilla and chocolate milkshakes. We were all very, very happy afterwards. Allison loved the red vines, and looked stunning sporting the ribbons!
Happy 20th, Alli-cat! Can't wait to see what you do next when we are NYC neighbors!

And...

I'm giving away this vintage post-card to one lucky winner! If you want, I'll even write you a personalized note!

How to Enter: Just comment below! One random winner will be chosen on Wednesday, June 26th.

Happy Monday!

  1. I've always wanted to gather a mess of vintage photos up, and create an imagined family history out of them. For instance, picture #1 up there, that's my great-uncle Walter, and his daughter Eustace. My great-aunt Mabel took that picture on a road trip through Virginia and North Carolina. Picture #2: That's Mabel. They went to see Walter's sister June, and that's June's son Eddie Jr. Picture #3: Gramma Josephine giving Eustace a great big hug.

OK, I'm done now. That was fun. :)

  4. In order to save this world, I will snatch this vintage card away from the clutches of the devious Daniel Reed and keep it locked up in the safe claws of my pet dragon, Boris.
